Running Industry Launches ‘Run Now’ Coalition To Support Recovery From The Boston Tragedy

In the wake of the tragedy on Patriots Day 2013, Run Now assembles running industry partners and competitors alike to call on runners at every level to recommit to the spirit of running and to be inspired to donate, participate and share experiences. The Run Now initial launch partners include Competitor Group, U.S. Road Sports & Entertainment Group, Brooks Running Company, MapMyFitness, Transamerica Life Insurance Company, Running Specialty Group and the Independent Running Retailers Association (IRRA). The Run Now coalition has launched RunNow.com. The website will become the hub of information on volunteering, participating and sharing all of the activities that demonstrate the solidarity of the running community.

25-year industry veteran to lead race registration platform as rapid growth continues

SAN DIEGO, California & RICHMOND, Virginia – May 15, 2013 – Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI), the leading active lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company, today announced Tim Dunne as new General Manager of Race It, the fastest growing registration solutions platform in endurance sports.

In his new role Dunne will lead the organization’s day-to-day operations, product and business development strategy, developing the roadmap to support the platform’s growing client base, with a focus on a more robust feature set and international expansion.

Dunne’s appointment comes as Race It continues to expand, serving endurance events of all sizes.

A 25-year industry veteran, Dunne brings a high-performance track record of large scale operational experience from the telecommunications, digital media and enterprise software industries. He was most recently the COO and Managing Director (US/EMEA) for Lavastorm Analytics, a global business analytics software company.  Previously Dunne held executive roles and led teams at Nextlink Wireless, RCN Corporation, Nextel Communications and Bell Atlantic/Verizon. Dunne earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park and his Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.  He will be relocating to Richmond from Northern Virginia with his wife and three children.  He is an avid cyclist, has competed in several triathlons many years ago and regularly runs in 5k events with his kids.
