The 2016 Summer Olympic Games are fast approaching. Leading up to the Olympic Trials Marathon, Competitor.com produced a four-part documentary series, Chasing Rio: Meb’s Road to the 2016 Olympic Trials presented by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, featuring Meb Keflezighi’s journey to the start line of the Trials. The series takes viewers through Meb’s training regimen, providing insight on what it takes to train and qualify for the Olympics. Meb, Competitor Group’s VP of Running, was the defending Trials champion heading into the 2016 Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles. On Feb. 13, Meb became the oldest American to qualify for the Olympic Marathon, earning a spot on his fourth Olympic team.
Alongside Meb, the men qualifiers were Galen Rupp, claiming the top spot, and Jared Ward, who took third place. Meb is sponsored by Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series partners CEP, Maui Jim and Powerbar. Jared Ward is sponsored by Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series partner GLUKOS.
In the women’s race, Amy Cragg took the first place spot, Desi Linden, running for Hansons-Brooks, claimed second, and Shalane Flanagan rounded out the team in third.
The 2016 Olympic Marathon will take place on Aug. 21, 2016.
