Williams Bay, WI – May 31, 2012 – Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI), the leading active lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company, today announced the acquisition and rebranding of the Lake Geneva Triathlon as part of the Land Rover TriRock Triathlon Series.  Originally established in 1989, the triathlon will feature distances including the Super Sprint, Sprint and Olympic. Land Rover TriRock Lake Geneva is scheduled to take place at 6:30 am on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Edgewater Park in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.

“We look forward to bringing the Land Rover TriRock Triathlon Series experience to Williams Bay—from  live bands along the course, to offering individual bike racks and red carpet finish line and a rocking post race concert,” said Dana Allen, SVP of Business Development at CGI. “The Lake Geneva Triathlon has had great appeal for many years, and we expect that to continue  on this scenic and now music-infused lakeside course.  The TriRock format will surely please beginner and experienced triathletes alike, providing an unforgettable event experience.”

The courses start with a swim at Edgewater Park beach in downtown Williams Bay, followed by a bike course on rural roads situated north and west of the Village of Williams Bay, and finishes with a run along the tree-lined residential streets west of Edgewater Park. The triathlon distances include:

  • Super Sprint: 0.2 mile swim, 14.5 mile bike, 1 mile run
  • Sprint: 0.3 mile swim, 14.5 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
  • Olympic: 0.9 mile swim, 28 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

Conveniently located between Chicago and Milwaukee, the clear, spring-fed water of Geneva Lake will provide scenic views for a very memorable fall race in the small lakeside village of Williams Bay. The event expects to attract more than 1,200 participants and will be followed by a post-race party with a concert at the finish line.

Created by the organizers of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, the Land Rover TriRock Triathlon Series features a rocking competition, complete with live bands along the swim, bike and run courses, followed by a post-race party and concert. In addition to the new Lake Geneva location, the series has expanded to a total of six cities, with other events already taking place in New York and Annapolis in 2012.
